FISD lowers tax rate for 2023-2024

During its regular Aug. 07, 2023 meeting, the Forney Independent School District Board met to accept donations, hear semi-annual district review, consider tax rate.

The tax rate was approved at 1.2982, lower than the proposed rate published in June, and over 4% lower than the current rate of 1.3546.
This is estimated to save an owner of an "average" home $448. Some of those savings are due to the state's increased homestead exemption.
