Council considers several road upgrades
During its special July 09, 2019 workshop meeting, the Forney City Council met to consider road funding as part of Kaufman County proposed bond.
- Approved a list of road projects to be provided to Kaufman County in reference to possible transportation funding:
During the lengthy discussion, City Manager Carson said the county is considering a $100 million bond, and for "on-system" (TxDOT) roads, a multiplier of 3 may be conservatively assumed meaning $300 million will be available including state and federal sources. Forney's estimated share would be $20 million, or $60 million for the on-system projects. Mr. Zook said the funds would be used for design and utility relocation, right-of-way (purchases).
Regarding 548 at RR: going over RR would impact many businesses and require ROW purchases, going under tracks is most logical.
Council agreed on these roads:Road Description Cost Grade Separation Crossing at FM 548
25,000,000 FM 548 improvements from US 80 to FM 741
8,500,000 FM 740 improvements from Pinson Rd. to FM 460
