Council postpones election, closes parks

• Mayor Penn referenced the Proclamation by Texas Governor allowing local elections to be held on Nov. 3.
      A motion to postpone May 02 election until Nov. 03 was approved.   Mr. Thatcher said the ordinance applies to general and special elections previously called for.
  
• Mayor Penn then read a statement referencing an executive order by Texas Governor Abbot which limits social gatherings to only ten people, prohibits eating and drinking at restaurants and bars (while allowing take-out), closes gyms, bans people from visiting nursing homes except for critical care and temporarily closing schools.   Effective Friday until April 03.   All City parks will be closed at 8 AM on Friday, Mar. 20 until further notice.
